PCB, Cabling & Manufacturing Support
North Bristol (Ideally on site 5 days a week) + International Trip involved
£300 - £400 a day + VAT
Our client, a growing, purpose led start-up in Bristol, is looking for a contract Electronics Engineer to play a key role in taking complex electronic systems from prototype through to production.
This is a practical, fast-paced environment where you’ll work across PCB design, wiring and cabling, test fixtures, and manufacturing support.
You’ll be someone who enjoys building, debugging, and improving systems, not just designing them. Working alongside 4 other engineers, you will be working closely with like-minded and experienced individuals, all with the common goal of delivering a top quality product.
What you’ll be doing:
* Design, update, and improve PCB layouts and schematics (KiCad or similar)
* Support board bring-up, debugging, flashing, and validation
* Create clear electrical documentation (schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs)
* Design and build test fixtures (e.g. bed-of-nails) for production and verification
* Support prototype builds, fault finding, and end-of-line testing
* Help scale products from early builds into repeatable, production-ready systems
* Work closely with firmware, mechanical, and production teams
What we’re looking for:
* ~3–6 years’ experience in electronics, PCB design, or hardware engineering
* Experience with PCB tools (KiCad, Altium, Eagle or similar)
* Strong hands-on skills across testing, debugging, or production support
* Experience with wiring diagrams, cabling, or harness documentation
* Practical mindset: able to solve problems and get things working
Nice to have:
* Automotive, robotics, or embedded systems experience
* Familiarity with CAN, low-voltage systems, or control boards
* Exposure to DFM, DFT, or working with manufacturers
Why this role?
* Work across the full lifecycle: 80% is refining & building, with 20% R&D & Design
* Highly hands-on - real engineering, not just CAD
* Fast-moving environment with real ownership
* Opportunity to shape how products scale into manufacturing
If you’re an engineer who likes to get stuck in, solve problems, and see your work out in the real world then get in touch; this project could be for you!
It is an initial 3 months, but with a good chance of extension with new projects in the pipeline.
You must be available to start at short notice, eligible to work in the UK (Bristol offices) but also be able to travel to China for 1-2 weeks of the project, to meet with manufacturers.
