We are currently looking to recruit 2 part-time medical receptionists/administrators to join our team. This post will be based across 3 sites: Middle Chare Surgery and Bridge End Surgery in Chester Le Street, and Woodlands Surgery in Rickleton. Hours are between 8am and 6pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 8am - 8pm on Wednesday to meet the needs of the surgery. Exact details to be discussed. The successful candidate will be patient-focused, a good team player, and flexible in their approach.
Main duties of the job
Being adaptable, working well as a team, and providing a positive experience are essential for the role of Admin/Receptionist. Your role will include dealing with all general enquiries, explaining procedures, making new and follow-up appointments, addressing medication queries, managing repeat prescriptions, online repeat prescription requests promptly, and communicating effectively with patients, medical professionals, hospitals, and other third-party providers. You will also be responsible for using care navigation to signpost patients to the most appropriate service for quick and efficient care.

Job responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include administrative functions such as:
Reception duties to provide positive patient experiences, information, advice, and signposting
Handling incoming and outgoing calls and responding to voicemails
Managing clinical specimens with correct details and appropriate handover
Using GP systems to book, manage, and cancel appointments
Managing patient records with accurate data entry
Escalating urgent issues or clinical cases appropriately
Supporting patients with paperwork, registration, and record management
Responding to patient result requests using clinical systems
Printing, scanning, photocopying, and uploading information to records
Processing letters and ensuring continuity of care
Managing patient tasks, emails, and e-consults
Handling prescriptions, including repeat prescriptions
Handling sensitive and confidential information
Recognizing and reporting safeguarding issues involving vulnerable children and adults

Qualifications
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)
AMSPAR Receptionists Qualification
Experience
Experience working within a GP Surgery is preferable
