About The Role
Are you a skilled Gas Engineer looking to make a difference in your community? Join LiveWest, the largest housing association in the South West, and help us provide high-quality homes and services to our customers. As a Gas Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our properties, ensuring they meet our high standards and customer expectations. This role is a mobile role, working predominately in the Glastonbury/Frome area. You will ideally be based within a 30‑minute commute of this patch.
Key Responsibilities
* Fault Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose and repair domestic heating systems, including fault-finding, installation, and annual servicing.
* Quality Workmanship: Ensure all work is completed to the highest standard, complying with building regulations and safety requirements.
* Customer Service: Demonstrate a positive and professional approach to our customers, ensuring the highest standard of customer service and satisfaction.
* Maintenance and Testing: Perform periodic testing and installation work, ensuring compliance with current best practices and guidelines.
* Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
* On‑Call Participation: Take part in an out‑of‑hours on‑call structure and attend meetings and training as required.
Requirements
Post‑qualification experience in the gas industry with a strong understanding of responsive maintenance.
Candidate Skills
* Proficiency in diagnosing boiler faults, performing annual servicing, and carrying out installation work.
* Experience working in customers’ homes, demonstrating a professional and positive approach.
* Knowledge of health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
* Proficient in the use and application of mobile technology.
* Full, valid UK driving licence.
* Familiarity with LPG and Oil systems is desirable.
Qualifications Required
* CCN1 (Domestic Core Element)
* CENWAT1 (Domestic Gas Central Heating Boilers and Water Heaters)
* Desirable: CKR1 (Cookers) – Required to complete within a reasonable timeframe after passing probation.
* Desirable: HTR1 (Heaters) – Same timeframe after probation.
* Desirable: LPG (Bottled Gas)
* Desirable: Part L (Energy Efficiency Qualification)
* Desirable: Part G (Hot Water Safety and Efficiency)
* Desirable: Water Regs WRAS
* Desirable: Unvented Hot Water
* Desirable: OFTEC (Oil Qualification)
* Desirable: OFTEC or equivalent (Solid Fuel Qualification)
Additional Conditions
This role is not eligible for a Certificate of Sponsorship. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the role without a Certificate of Sponsorship.

Work Schedule
This is a full‑time permanent role of 40 hours per week, with an out‑of‑hours on‑call structure.
