About Inverclyde Intensive Family Support Service

This is a family outreach service, working alongside families, communities, and partners, offering caring and responsive support to children, young people and families. Aberlour Inverclyde Intensive Family Support Service delivers the support families need, when they need it, every day of the year. The aim of the service is to ensure that children and young people can continue to flourish at home, at school and in their local community.

Working with Social Work Services, this innovative and creative service focuses on supporting vulnerable and/or care experienced children and young people aged 0 – 25 years in a variety of settings including in their families’ homes, foster carers, kinship carers and residential settings to help them thrive in their homes, schools and local communities.

Our service works with children, young people and their families to enhance relationships, build on existing strengths and interests, help build confidence and encourage new community connections. Our aim is to help all families feel safe, confident, capable, and included. Our approach has been developed through consultation with families and partners.

What we are looking for....

Our ambition is to help children, young people and families feel safe, confident, capable, and included, offering support when it is needed, including evenings and weekends. We believe in working alongside families, empowering them to lead positive change in their own lives.

We are looking for candidates who are experienced in working alongside vulnerable families to assess strengths and needs as well as plan, deliver and evaluate interventions and strategies which enable families to thrive. You will have experience of child and adult protection issues. Experience of working within other childcare settings such as Residential Child Care will be considered.

You must share our vision that collaborative working and relationship based early intervention is the best option for children and families who are feeling overwhelmed or excluded. Ideally you will hold a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above, together with relevant experience of working directly with children or young people and their families. Not afraid to test new ways of working, you will bring a fresh, caring, and collaborative approach which recognises strengths and responds empathically to the needs of children, young people, and their families – this will include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

You will your hours will be worked around the needs of the children, young people and families we support. This service will deliver a responsive, wraparound support 7 days a week, operating from the hours of 8am to 10pm, available every day of the year, including Public Holidays. You will work as part of a 7-day staff rota which will incorporate shifts (e.g., flexible hours to suit family needs, 8am-10pm), to maximise support availability at family ‘flashpoint’ times to avoid crisis, such as mornings/pre-school, evenings.

To succeed in this role, you will need to work flexibly within a variety of locations across Inverclyde, including family homes, schools, and community settings.
