Library Assistant role at Surrey County Council. Based at Woking Library, with duties at Addlestone, Chertsey, Knaphill and West Byfleet Libraries. Salary: starting £12,526 per annum (pro rata to £25,052 FTE) based on an 18-hour working week.

About the role
Surrey Libraries hold a unique place in our communities, offering reading, learning, digital and wellbeing activities. With a focus on excellent customer service, you will help create busy, welcoming library spaces. Key attributes include flexibility, creativity and initiative.
Your responsibilities
* Greeting customers with a positive attitude and resilient approach to requests
* Providing reading recommendations and supporting reading initiatives
* Maintaining, presenting and processing book stock; creating new themes for displays
* Leading craft events, Rhymetime and Storytime sessions
* Engaging with schools to organise visits and class assemblies
* Assisting with or leading activities for children and adults
* Lone working or sole staffing at this and other libraries in the area

* Proven experience in providing or receiving excellent customer service
* Evidence of contributing to a community service that made a positive impact
* Creative ideas for attracting more people to our libraries, aligned with the Surrey Way framework

Schedule and travel
Rota involves shifts across library locations. You may be required to travel to other libraries within the network to support service needs. Schedule details may be revised to meet library service requirements and occasionally include evening coverage.
