Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Community Tutor to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational PRU Settings on a full-time and long-term basis.
Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Community Tutor to work with pupils in the community on a 1:1 basis. The work is based in South Shields. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.
About the Role:
1. The role will involve delivering engaging intervention sessions to support young people with their engagement, progress and attitude towards learning. The pupils will have varying levels of SEMH as well as challenging behaviour.
2. Building positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
3. Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner
4. Differentiating sessions appropriately to suit the needs and earning styles of all pupils.
5. Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress
About the School:
6. The role is based in a Community Centre setting, supporting pupils who attend a PRU in South Shields.
7. The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work as a Team within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils.
Pay, Hours and Contract:
8. Pay – Between £100-150 per day
9. Hours –
10. Contract – Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2026. Temporary Contract.
11. Start Date – ASAP.
12. Location – South Shields
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:
13. An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
14. Learning Support or Teaching experience in either Primary or Secondary School settings within the UK.
15. Strong Behaviour Management skills
16. Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress
17. Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum
18. Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport
19. A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work
20. Experience of Teaching within the UK
21. A genuine passion for Teaching
22. Strong organisation and communication skills
