Our client has been developing a Multimodal Transport operation to incorporate all transport requirements throughout the business, supporting our operational demands. The role itself will primarily serve as a support function for our internal departments and work closely with the Intermodal Manager to manage transport booking requirements. The position is varied and involves interfacing with all departments, working directly with suppliers and shipping lines as we strengthen our transport operation. Ensuring quality control and meeting transport bookings without fail will be the first priority, with proactive development as we expand our operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transport Planning
2. Haulage allocation and day-to-day management as required
3. Act as a focal point both with internal and external customers
4. Complete all requirements or offer alternative options to fulfill them
Transport Service Level & Cost Constraints
1. Ensure all haulage requirements are met by approved suppliers
2. Adapt and consider alternative requirements as needed
3. Balance cost and service requirements at all times
Haulage Product
1. Maintain and develop key account flow requirements, supporting the Multimodal Transport Manager
2. Monitor supplier KPIs, complete reports, and assist management
3. Develop and maintain relationships with all suppliers and focal points at shipping lines
4. Assist in transport system development to enhance existing systems
General Skills
1. Knowledge of UK haulage operations, including FCL/LCL and warehousing
2. Experience with intermodal and multiple port operations
3. Good geographic knowledge and container inventory management
4. Excellent planning, attention to detail, and organizational skills
5. Strong communication and influencing skills
