About the role

Join our team as an Information Governance Officer and play a vital role in supporting the Council and the Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with GDPR and all relevant privacy legislation. This is a hybrid role, and you will be expected to attend the office regularly for meetings and to support the Council.

You will help maintain and develop our Information Governance Framework, oversee and coordinate responses to Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, and act as the investigating officer for data protection breaches.

You will conduct risk assessments and manage information governance risks, providing expert advice on data protection, records management, and best practice. You will also lead reviews of data governance processes for high‑risk projects and deliver essential training to colleagues, helping ensure our data protection measures remain robust and effective.

What we need from you

To be successful in this role, you will bring experience of GDPR compliance work and the ability to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs). You will have a strong understanding of data protection principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong organisational skills and a customer‑focused approach are essential in building positive working relationships across the organisation.
