An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dedicated hardworking, Radiographer-Mammographer to join our friendly and enthusiastic team.
University Hospitals Birmingham manages The South Birmingham Breast Screening Programme and provides Breast Symptomatic Services across Birmingham and Solihull.
The role will be primarily based at the South Birmingham Breast Screening Unit and its associated mobile screening units, working in line with NHSBSP guidelines and South Birmingham Breast Unit QMS operating procedures. There may also be occasions where duties are undertaken at Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals.
This is not a training post.
Applicants must hold the Postgraduate Award in Mammography, a Radiography Degree (or equivalent), and have experience of working in Breast Screening and symptomatic Breast Services.
Current HCPC registration is essential.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
The post-holder will perform high standard mammography examinations in accordance with local protocols and provide support to the breast services team for both breast screening and symptomatic services. The role also involves contributing to the training and development of team members across all aspects of digital mammography, image guided interventional procedures, and digital imaging. The post-holder will support the smooth running of the clinics, working with the wider breast team including mammographers, assistant practitioners and imaging department assistants.
Qualifications
* Radiography Degree or diploma of the College of Radiographers.
* Post Graduate Certificate in Mammography.
* State registered radiographer.
* Professional knowledge acquired through degree plus short specialist courses (e.g. IV cannulation, QA, Assessor, teaching/training/supervision) and experience to post‑graduate diploma level or equivalent in Mammography.
Experience
Essential
* Experience in breast screening.
* Understanding and knowledge of current techniques and equipment used in breast imaging.
* Evidence of up‑to‑date technical knowledge.
* Wide range of practical experience.
* Evidence of team leadership skills.
Desirable
* Experience in general radiography.
* Knowledge of NHS BSP.
