An opportunity has arisen for a part-time registrar to join our team at Colchester Hospital in the Community Paediatrics team from 1st January 2026.

This post provides an excellent opportunity to join our enthusiastic and committed team, providing high-quality health care to the local child population.

The post is an exciting opportunity to contribute to service development and improvement as we seek to provide the best possible care to our patients.

The new doctor will join 5 community paediatric consultants and 4 associate specialists, already working in the department as well as a team of specialist allied health professionals, including our Neurodevelopmental Nurses, ADHD nurses, specialist speech therapists, nursery nurses, and health visitor.

Community Paediatrics also undertake outlier clinics in Special Schools within our catchment, and in Halstead, Clacton, and Harwich.

The post-holder will undertake both neurodevelopmental and neurobehavioural work with the aim of creating a balanced timetable.

Full GMC registration is required, and candidates are required to have at least 4 years post-graduate training, ideally with up to 12 months experience in community paediatrics.

The post-holder will:

* Undertake regular clinics in social communication disorders (ASD & ADHD)
* Participate in the administrative duties associated with patient care and the running of the department
* Child development assessments for ASD and ADHD referrals
* No On-call Duties

This is a 24hr post to work Mondays and Tuesdays, either at our Colchester, Harwich, Clacton, Halstead, or Ipswich sites.

The post-holder will:

* Work with the existing Community Paediatric team and alongside the team leaders. Working within the community paediatric team to support and further develop our community-based services
* Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines
* Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in other departments and organisations and primary care
* Offer educational, clinical support, and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
* Provide a role model of professional leadership, which underpins the corporate values and behaviours agreed by the organisation, ensuring these are understood and demonstrated by the medical workforce within their area and take remedial action where poor behaviour is demonstrated
* Collaborate with medical colleagues to maintain the service in the absence of departmental colleagues in cases of annual leave, study leave, and short-term sickness
