We are seeking an experienced Head of Online Trade to lead and accelerate revenue growth across all online channels. This senior role owns the online trading strategy, budget, and performance, ensuring that marketing, website optimisation, and channel development work together to deliver sustainable, profitable growth. You will lead the online trading function, manage internal teams and external partners, and provide clear, data-led reporting to senior leadership and board-level stakeholders.
The Role - Head of Online Trade
The position focuses on defining and delivering the online revenue strategy, driving sustainable growth across all digital channels. Growth is achieved through maximising sales, conversion rates and profitability, supported by continuous optimisation of the online trading calendar and the identification and launch of new online channels and marketplaces to extend reach and revenue.
Responsibility includes leading annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting for online trading and digital marketing, ensuring spend is allocated effectively across channels to maximise return on investment. Performance is monitored closely against budget with re-forecasting undertaken as required to reflect trading conditions.
The online marketing strategy is shaped and delivered in line with wider business objectives, with oversight of integrated campaigns across paid media, SEO, affiliates, PR and owned channels. Success relies on close collaboration with marketing, trading and wider cross-functional teams.
Website performance sits at the heart of the remit, with accountability for user experience, conversion rate and commercial effectiveness. This includes leading A/B and multivariate testing to improve conversion, average order value and the end-to-end customer journey, alongside managing and briefing CRO partners against clear testing roadmaps and measurable outcomes.
External agency relationships across paid media, SEO, CRO, PR and affiliates are actively managed and optimised. Clear KPIs are set, performance is reviewed rigorously and partners are held accountable for results while operating collaboratively within the overall trading strategy.
Ownership of online performance analytics and reporting spans all channels, with clear and insightful updates provided to senior leadership and board stakeholders. Data and insight inform decision-making, testing priorities and future strategy.
Alongside commercial responsibility, the role includes line management and development of the marketing and online trading team. Clear objectives are set, coaching is provided and a high-performance culture is fostered, supported by strong cross-functional relationships with commercial, product, technology and operations teams.
