Ready to put your psychology knowledge to work in a real-world setting? This SEN Teaching Assistant role is a great stepping stone for graduates who want hands-on experience supporting children with additional needs.

We’re working with a welcoming primary school in Gateshead that’s looking for someone curious, compassionate, and eager to learn. If you enjoy behaviour, child development, or have your eye on a future career in educational psychology, this role gives you the practical grounding you’ll love.


What you'll be doing as a SEN Teaching Assistant

* Supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs including autism, ADHD, social communication differences, and SEMH

* Helping children navigate routines, regulate emotions, and engage with learning

* Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals

* Using your psychology insight to understand triggers, build trust, and celebrate small wins

* Creating a calm, safe learning environment where pupils feel understood and supported


What we’re looking for

* A psychology (or related) degree

* Experience with children or young people, paid or voluntary

* A patient, positive approach and confidence around behaviour

* Someone who’s reflective, resilient, and eager to develop their practice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
