About Auto RARA
Auto RARA has built a name as one of Derbyshire's leading classic car restoration and restomod specialists — restoring and transforming iconic vehicles for enthusiasts across the UK. We're expanding fast and have big plans: from concours-quality restorations to bespoke restomods and race-ready builds across a range of prestigious marques.
Our dedicated fabrication team are at the heart of this ambition — and we're now looking for an experienced Senior Fabricator / Welder to help us take our metalwork to the next level.
Why join us?
High-end projects: Work on rare and cherished classics, unique restomods, and purpose-built competition cars.
Craftsmanship culture: We invest in quality tools — from English Wheels to specialist metal forming equipment — and give you the time and support to do the job properly.
Autonomy & impact: Shape your own department and influence our fabrication standards. Mentor junior fabricators and help drive innovation in how we deliver complex projects.
Growth & variety: No two builds are the same — your skills will be challenged, developed and truly appreciated by both colleagues and discerning clients.
What you'll be doing
* Carry out precision vehicle fabrication, metal shaping and panel beating on classic and modern classic cars.
* Restore, repair and fabricate individual panels and bespoke parts, ensuring authenticity and fit to original or upgraded specifications.
* Use advanced metal forming tools — including English Wheels, bead rollers, shrinkers/stretchers, folders and specialist hand tools — with skill and care.
* Execute high-quality welding (TIG and MIG) and metal finishing to ensure panels are structurally sound and visually flawless.
* Collaborate closely with the bodyshop and project managers to keep restorations on schedule, using project plans and Gantt charts.
* Share expertise and provide guidance to junior team members, supporting our culture of craftsmanship and learning.
What we're looking for
Highly skilled metal shaper: Confident with English Wheel work, bead rolling, shrinking/stretching, folding and forming complex curves by hand.
Expert welder: Strong TIG welding ability (essential), plus MIG where needed — consistently neat, strong welds.
Workshop experience: Minimum 5 years in vehicle fabrication/restoration. Classic or modern classic experience preferred.
Attention to detail: Pride in achieving metalwork that needs minimal filler and sets the standard for the industry.
Professional work ethic: Self-motivated, punctual and able to manage your own workload while contributing positively to the team.
Process-driven: Capable of recording progress and working to project plans using Microsoft Office.
What we offer
* A permanent, full-time position in an ambitious, supportive environment.
* Overtime and additional hours available for the right person.
* Opportunity to build your own specialist function within a growing business.
* A chance to work on vehicles that excite, challenge and inspire you every day.
