Financial Controller - Viridien (Sercel Concept)

Job Summary
We are looking for a Financial Controller, who, as a qualified accountant, will lead an experienced finance team and report directly to the Financial Director (FD). This role oversees all accounting functions, ensuring that records are maintained in line with accounting standards and legislation. The position supports the business by working with managers across departments to achieve financial goals.
Duties include coordinating and managing the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, preparing monthly statements and other regular financial reports, maintaining a robust control environment, and acting as the prime contact for external auditors.
About The Team
Concept’s finance team is a small but highly experienced group based in Edinburgh. The role leads a team of 3 covering a full range of accounting activities, with responsibility for cash flow management, working capital, and providing crucial financial information to support planning and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes; track, report, and analyse budget variances.
* Prepare accurate financial statements including monthly management reports (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow).
* Collaborate with managers across the business to achieve financial and business goals.
* Maintain a strong control environment and recommend improvements.
* Coordinate intercompany processes and liaise with other entities to balance accounts.
* Lead financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and internal control with the Finance Director.
* Provide accurate financial reports to management.
* Manage AP, AR and payroll functions.
* Ensure compliance with government regulations and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
* Assist in preparation of statutory accounts and corporate tax matters.
* Recommend policy or procedure changes to improve financial performance.
Qualifications
Required:
* Degree in finance or related field.
* Professionally qualified accountant (ICAS, CIMA, ACCA, etc.).
* 7+ years of professional experience in business finance.
* Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel and ERP experience.
* UK GAAP / IFRS knowledge.
* Understanding of UK corporate tax, VAT, and income tax.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills; self-motivated with a flexible attitude.
* Strong stakeholder liaison and teamwork abilities.
* Excellent team player.
Preferred:
* Prior people management experience.
* Experience implementing new systems and designing related processes.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines.
* Experience in a software development or engineering environment.
* Experience working in a global business.
