Head of Sustainability
In this role you will take responsibility for the actions and strategic direction that Artfarm takes in relation to sustainability. You will have a crucial role in driving the green agenda forward and influence and innovate both internally and externally. Like everything else we do at Artfarm, we strive to lead with honesty and integrity in enhancing our sustainability priorities.
To date, we have started mapping our carbon footprint and as the Head of Sustainability you will be responsible for creating and implementing a strategy aligning our goals as we travel along our net zero pathway. You will be aware of the latest best practice, trends and initiatives and able to make recommendations on future opportunities and risks.
We are a fast-growing business, operating across the UK, East and West coast of the US and 2 locations in Europe. Our properties and locations are extremely varied and not without complexity when it comes to the sustainability agenda.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
* A focus on the strategic level decision-making process, so working with senior executives and wider management team to align the company's activities and values with its environmental, social and wider sustainability objectives.
* Staying informed on what is happening 'on the ground', maintaining regular contact with employees at all levels of the organisation to ensure the sustainability strategy is understood and being effectively integrated into working practice.
* Communication with external stakeholders is a key part of the role, whether this presenting to the executive team, overseeing the preparation of the organisation's sustainability report, leading community-based initiatives, liaising with regulators and policy makers, or promoting sustainability across the organisation's supply chain and customers.
* Lead on the design and implementation of appropriate sustainability policies, procedures and best practice on sustainability related issues.
* Lead on communication of the organisation's sustainability strategy and reporting on progress.
* Providing guidance and support to the senior executives and wider company management to identify risks and opportunities presented by the current and future sustainability agenda and trends.
* Taking responsibility for ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and reporting requirements.
* Championing sustainability in the business and working with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and encourage continuous improvement.
What we're looking for:
* You will be qualified to degree level in a related field, with previous experience in environmental related business and a proven ability to work cross-functionally
* Possessing strong knowledge of sustainability related legislation with strong knowledge of global sustainability frameworks
* Proven experience of reporting on sustainability matters to internal and external stakeholders
* Proven experience in influencing at all levels of organisation
* Someone with a drive to improve our environmental and social impact
* Previous experience in hospitality or retail would also be highly desirable, as would a proven track in developing and implementing sustainability strategies and initiatives
* Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead and drive change across an organisation, with strong analytical and problem solving - abilities, with a focus on data driven decision making
