Position
Band 5 Biomedical Scientist – Blood Sciences laboratory, Weston General Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a proactive member of the Blood Sciences Team.
* Process a high workload of specimens while maintaining excellent communication and teamwork.
* Handle multi‑tasking, organise work and prioritise urgent requests.
* Maintain analytical quality and clinical urgency, and take appropriate action when abnormal pathology results are found.
* Participate in a 24/7 shift system covering day, late, night, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
* Contribute to the training and development of staff within the department.
* Perform duties in Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Blood Transfusion using newly implemented equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
* HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with UK laboratory experience.
* Experience in Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, and Blood Transfusion.
* Ability to work within a team under high workload and to perform lone working as required.
* Active role in staff training and development in the department's specialist portfolio training programme.
Working Pattern
The working pattern is rota based, with contracted hours of 37.5 per week, calculated over a rota period of 13 weeks. Hours may fluctuate due to shift length but will balance within the contracted time.
