Physical Needs Secondary School Teaching Assistant

Pay: £90-£95 per day, with potential for a higher rate from April
Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Secondary Teaching Assistant on the outskirts of Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan. This is an exciting opportunity to support students with physical and learning difficulties, enabling them to thrive and achieve in an inclusive educational environment. Your role will be pivotal in empowering students to access their learning, participate fully in school life, and overcome barriers related to physical needs.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching Assistant (Secondary, Physical Needs)
* Support students with physical needs and learning difficulties, promoting engagement, independence, and confidence in the classroom.
* Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs, ensuring all students have equal access to the curriculum.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and support teams to create an environment that is inclusive, supportive, and safe.
* Assist with physical support tasks, including helping students with wheelchairs, physio equipment, and other mobility aids.
* Track and monitor students' progress, providing valuable feedback and assisting teachers in tailoring lessons for each student’s needs.
* Build nurturing, trusting relationships with students, supporting both their academic growth and emotional wellbeing.
* Ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed, maintaining the highest standards of student welfare and safety.
Candidate Requirements
* Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
* Manual Handling experience (preferred but not essential – training will be provided).
* A proactive, flexible, and reliable approach.
* Patience, calmness, and the ability to adapt to different situations.
* Understanding of safeguarding policies and a commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
* A willingness to learn and undertake training as necessary to support students with diverse physical and educational needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
