Overview
The Royal Maritime Hotel is a hotel like no other. It operates a charitable incorporated organisation and, as such, all surpluses are used to benefit veterans' groups and serving military personnel. There has been a charity operating on our ground since 1856, and we remain fully committed to serving our charitable objects. We also open the full-service hotel with 90 bedrooms, 5 function rooms, a leisure complex and a restaurant open to the public.
We are now looking for an experienced Hotel Sales professional to take the hotel towards clearly defined targets and into the wider market.

Key relationships: Rooms and Revenue Manager, Marketing Manager, Human Resources Manager, Finance Manager, Hospitality Manager
Key Performance Indicators: Increase in corporate accounts, conference sales, successful RFP completion, attraction of new local, national and international clients, compilation of strategic sales plans in line with the overarching business strategy.
Job Summary
The Hotel Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by developing and executing strategic sales plans to attract new business and retain existing clients. This role focuses on promoting the hotel’s services and facilities to corporate clients, event planners, travel agencies, and other potential customers. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, results-driven professional with strong interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of the hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets across all market segments (corporate, leisure, group, and events).
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, cold calling, and attending industry events.
* Maintain relationships with existing clients to ensure repeat business and customer satisfaction.
* Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals.
* Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials and campaigns.
* Conduct site inspections and hotel tours for potential clients.
* Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adjust strategies accordingly.
* Manage and update the customer relationship management (CRM) system.
* Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for senior management.
* Coordinate with operations and event teams to ensure seamless execution of client bookings.
* Monitor and comply with all company and legal statutory requirements
* Must attend all H&S, Fire and Food Training as directed by the Line Manager.
* Ensure that while you undertake your role you abide by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and safe systems of work appropriate to your role.
* In the use of the Club’s nominated chemicals, it is your responsibility to comply by COSHH.
* Understand the importance of adhering to company policy with reference to Hazard spotting, first aid reporting, and reporting accidents.
Qualifications
* A bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality Management, or a related field would be preferred; however, it is not essential
* Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in hotel sales or a similar role.
* Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
* Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
* Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Knowledge of local market and industry trends is a plus.
Working Conditions
* Part-time position with occasional evening and work required for hosting show rounds and meetings.
* Travel may be necessary for client meetings, trade shows, and networking events.
Salary is £21,840 per annum, 21 hours per week.
