About the Role
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our engineering function. The role will be instrumental in advancing our cloud strategy. You'll work with stakeholders, architects and the wider engineering organization to design, implement, and optimise secure, scalable and automated cloud tooling. This role requires expertise in at least one cloud vendor, strong infrastructure as code skills particularly Terraform, and the ability to embed DevOps best practices into the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Designing, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructure tooling using best practice security, scalability, reliability, monitoring and performance principles.
* Writing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
* Writing and maintaining Kubernetes tooling.
* Collaborating with development and customer teams to ensure smooth deployment of applications and services.
* Collaborating with architecture and security teams to ensure compliance with governance frameworks and best practices.
* Implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to maintain high availability and reliability.
* Contributing to solution design, risk assessment, and project planning activities.
* Contributing to continuous improvement and innovation in the DevOps culture within the organization, promoting automation and collaboration.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in designing and managing any cloud infrastructure: AWS and/or Azure preferred.
* Exposure to designing and managing landing zones and multi‑account environments.
* Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and with Linux environments.
* Strong experience with containerization and Kubernetes, and Terraform (or similar).
* Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins) and version control using GitLab.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in agile, collaborative environments.
* Knowledge of security, compliance, and governance best practices.
Nice to have
* Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python.
* Exposure to data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ) is advantageous.
* Eligibility for security clearance – British citizen or lived in the UK for the past 5 consecutive years.
* Track record with Google Cloud is a bonus.
