Overview
Join to apply for the Consultants in Stroke Medicine role at Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust. We are seeking substantive consultants in Stroke Medicine to join a team of stroke physicians, neurologists and a wide multidisciplinary team, committed to delivering modern stroke care across the full pathway. We aspire to develop a fully integrated care model with patients and staff wellbeing at its heart.
We can accommodate candidates whose parent speciality is Medicine for Older People, Neurology or Rehabilitation Medicine. Applicants must provide evidence of training and experience in their parent speciality and Stroke Medicine, plus full registration with the GMC or be within six months of achieving CCT in their parent speciality.
SWB NHS Trust provides care for an urban and diverse population of over half a million. Stroke services are delivered at the Sandwell Hospital, where we admit over 700 confirmed strokes annually. The Trust has moved all acute services to the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH).
Our hyperacute pathway is supported by dedicated Stroke Alert Nurses for timely diagnosis and treatment; decision making is consultant-led 24/7.
We are actively participating in clinical research and run an RCP-accredited course for the management of hyperacute stroke twice a year. Appointees are expected to work across the whole stroke pathway and support governance, training, education and research. The post does not involve work or on-call commitments for acute medicine; this can be reviewed to accommodate individual special interests or the maintenance of acute GIM skills.
SWB Trust values Ambition, Respect and Compassion and aims to provide a place where you belong, grow and develop your career while delivering excellent patient care. For further details or informal visits contact:
