Senior Frontend Engineer (React Native)
We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer (React Native) to join our growing team of frontend engineers on a 3 month contract. The frontend team builds our beautifully designed Android and iOS applications in React Native and our web‑app in Next.js. We’re seeking someone passionate about executing the minute‑design details that make every experience wonderful.
What You’ll Do
* Develop our iOS and Android mobile apps: You’ll be responsible for delivering the latest features, iterating on existing ones, and ensuring a magical experience for all members.
* Build out our web‑app in Next.js: Bring the latest technologies to ensure we can deliver an experience on the web that rivals our mobile apps.
* Closely collaborate with cross‑functional squads: Work closely with product and design teams to create magical moments across all frontend clients.
* Full lifecycle ownership: Own the development lifecycle from the ground up—defining stories, overseeing testing, and orchestrating deployments to get products into members’ hands quickly.
* Lead technical discussions: Influence decisions on architecture, tool selection, and methodologies that push the boundaries of what’s possible.
* Mentorship and team leadership: Provide mentorship to the rest of the frontend team, building their technical abilities and knowledge across our frontend technologies.
* Spotting and driving improvements: Proactively identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or opportunities to improve tools, workflows, and processes, and take ownership of implementation.
Qualifications
* Know React Native inside‑out: Built high‑grade apps shipped to users’ hands and pushed the boundaries of technologies like Reanimated.
* Skilled in Next.js with server‑side rendering: Built robust web applications using Next.js, especially with SSR techniques.
* You sweat the small stuff: Attention to detail matters; execute on tiny design details to create an incredible experience.
* Cross‑platform expertise: Deliver a delightful experience that works across iOS and Android, accounting for each platform’s nuances.
* Familiarity with design systems: Built something special while knowing when to use or throw out a design system.
* Think like a product engineer: Solve problems, understand user requirements, and deliver elegant solutions.
* Thrive in ambiguity: Navigate uncertain environments and set directions confidently.
* Own quality through automated testing: Write thorough automated tests and involve the squad for a rock‑solid experience.

Work Environment
We’re office‑first, but the Frontend squad is remote‑friendly. We’re open to both hybrid and fully remote setups (UK‑based). Hybrid team members can come into the Hoxton office at least 3 days a week. We value a values‑led approach, structured progression, and a culture that celebrates learning.

Interview Process
We take the candidate experience seriously. Here’s how it works:
* Stage 1: Intro call (45 mins) with Jas Hayer to discuss you and us.
* Stage 2: Technical exercise (60 mins) – a remote pairing exercise to showcase your coding approach.
* Stage 3: System design task (90 mins) – design a high‑level system for a responsive web application and describe frontend‑backend interaction.
* Stage 4: Reference check – ideally a previous manager phone call.
* Stage 5: Offer – if we’re happy, you’ll receive an offer to join us. We aim to give decisions within 24 hours wherever possible.
We love closing the feedback loop. Expect specific feedback from Stage 2 onward, and you can always ask for more.
