The Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity to become involved with translational research and clinical trials being undertaken by the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian. The post holder will also be responsible for the process and storing of biological specimens and maintenance of relevant databases. Performing a range of specialised histopathology techniques including tissue collection, shipping, preparation of tissues, embedding, microtomy, and staining. Your skills and attributes for success: Knowledge/experience of laboratory sample processing procedures and tissue banking. A familiarity with histology-based procedures. Educated to HNC/HND or relevant work experience. Able to demonstrate the appropriate competencies and skills for the job. Shows willingness to learn about research policies and procedures e.g., GCP/GCLP Guidelines and tissue governance. Excellent organisation and administration skills.
