The purpose of this role is to manage a design team that will provide design solutions from initial concept through to manufacture. Our passenger experience prides itself on innovation, customization, quality and industrial design.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for the design and detail modeling of a variety of suite components in order to meet programme requirements
* Produce designs to meet specified cost/weight targets
* Communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers
* Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process
* The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element
* Ensure the successful integration of each design element within the product as a whole
* Check engineering packages
* Participate in the validation of the product (e.g., prototyping, testing, DFMEA)
* Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines
* From time to time, undertake tasks outside of normal duties as requested by supervisory staff
Qualifications
* Qualified to a minimum of degree in Mechanical / Aerospace / Structural Engineering; or HNC/HND or equivalent qualification with extensive experience in mechanical systems design
* Essential: Proficiency with CATIA V5 (or other 3D CAD packages) and Product Life Management (PLM) systems
* Essential: Ability to plan and schedule design activities across multiple design modules
* Essential: Understanding of surface tolerances and working knowledge of manufacturing processes and OEM installation requirements
