Research Community Engagement Assistant – Permanent. Join us and be part of a mission-driven, independent publisher. You’ll work with a diverse group of people who share a passion for empowering researchers, educators, and institutions to shape the future.


Base pay range

£32,210 - £35,000

Our Team

Our team drives recruitment, onboarding and meaningful engagement with the editorial boards of our Gold Open Access journal collection. A new team, we’re building it to be curious, creative and collaborative. We work closely with our editorial, commissioning and marketing teams to build impactful workflows and drive high quality, sustainable growth for Sage’s Open Access journals.


Could you be our new Research Community Engagement Assistant?

* Experienced in coordinating external email communication and/or outreach campaigns.
* Knowledgeable about academic publishing processes to deliver quality research.
* Proficient in analysing and presenting data for decision support.
* Curious about learning new systems and tools.
* Proactive in proposing improvements to workflows and processes.
* Organized and efficient to deliver work to meet team goals.
* An excellent written and verbal communicator, ideally with experience in cross-cultural communication.


Your New Role

* Leverage tools like CRM and scholarly databases to develop curated lists of editor candidates, tracking the success of recruitment and onboarding work.
* Support editorial and board recruitment efforts to funnel engaged, high impact authors and reviewers into editorial positions.
* Support decision-making around engagement and editorial board activity by collecting, analysing and presenting data.
* Engage editorial boards through a variety of channels, including surveys, newsletters and outreach campaigns.
* Positively challenge current ways-of-working to drive continuous improvement and alignment with the Open Access matrix of teams.
* Participate in inter-team initiatives around wider community engagement and incentivization.
