An opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to join a dynamic team within the Barnsley Integrated Community Stroke Service. The post is based in our purpose-built 12-bedded inpatient Stroke Rehabilitation unit at Kendray Hospital. We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 nurse to join our service.

Main Duties
1. Provide high-standard clinical nursing care within the ward, maintaining a safe environment.
2. Deliver personalized patient care, effectively utilizing resources.
3. Assess, implement, monitor, and evaluate inpatient care in partnership with patients and families.
4. Establish good multidisciplinary team relationships.
5. Take charge of the ward regularly, supervising and delegating care in the absence of senior staff.
6. Identify potential issues and report them appropriately.
7. Participate in training, education, and supervision of staff, students, and relatives.
8. Ad hoc senior nurse responsibilities, including emergency response.
Additional Responsibilities
1. Support ward operations to ensure quality care and dignity for patients.
2. Carry out patient needs assessments and care planning, respecting family involvement.
3. Ensure continuity of care through effective handovers and reporting.
4. Educate relatives and carers for discharge readiness.
5. Maintain confidentiality and comply with health and safety policies.
6. Participate in research, evidence-based practices, and guideline implementation.
7. Attend meetings and training, including appraisals and supervision.
8. Mentor and support new staff and students.
9. Maintain accurate records and manage supplies within budgets.
10. Safeguard controlled drugs and ensure safe medication administration.
11. Promote health and wellbeing, collaborating with internal and external services.
12. Contribute to service planning aligned with Trust objectives.
13. Undertake other duties within the scope of the role as required.

Person Specification
Essential: Experience with stroke/neuro patients, working in a multidisciplinary team, current NMC registration, evidence of CPD, strong communication, leadership, and teaching skills, high clinical standards, and the ability to work independently.
Desirable: Mentoring experience, neuro and stroke care courses.
Additional Requirements
This role is subject to a DBS check and current UK professional registration.
