Physiotherapist – HyperAcute Rehabilitation, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust
A rare and exciting opportunity to join the HyperAcute Rehabilitation in Reach team at John Radcliffe Hospital. The role involves leading and supporting a 12‑month proof‑of‑concept specialist hyperacute rehabilitation service within a small team of AHPs and rehabilitation assistants.
Responsibilities
* Work within the hyperacute rehabilitation in reach team to optimise rehabilitation of patients across OUH through MDT working and goal planning.
* Collaborate with therapists across OUH to assess patients, facilitate therapeutic interventions, and establish ongoing treatment plans related to therapy management.
* Participate and lead on education and training sessions around hyperacute rehabilitation as part of an education programme and additional teaching sessions as required.
* Engage with and lead on quality improvement, clinical audit and research projects.
* Enact professional and legal responsibilities for all aspects of the post-holder's own clinical practice.
* Work with OUH ward therapy teams to carry out comprehensive assessments and form specialist treatment and rehabilitation plans in partnership with patients, carers/family and the multidisciplinary team.
* Interpret and analyse complex clinical information to form accurate therapy diagnoses in the physical management of patients.
* Formulate and deliver comprehensive therapeutic interventions alongside ward therapy teams, based on expert clinical skills, evidence‑based practice and patient preferences.
* Work with the hyperacute rehabilitation team and ward therapy teams to establish and support appropriate discharge planning and onward referrals.
* Evaluate patient progress against agreed treatment goals and use advanced clinical reasoning skills to modify plans accordingly.
* Act as a patient advocate, negotiating changes to clinical treatment plans as appropriate.
* Determine a patient's mental capacity, gain informed consent for treatment and work within a legal framework with patients lacking capacity.
* Co‑ordinate interventions across multiple disciplines and provide advice or education as appropriate.
* Maintain accurate written records in an electronic patient record system and uphold professional standards.
* Assess and mitigate risk of patient and staff harm using agreed risk assessment frameworks and the Trust's manual handling policy.
* Demonstrate physical ability to carry out therapy assessment and interventions, including manual therapy and therapeutic handling.
* Represent the hyperacute rehabilitation team at multidisciplinary team meetings as required.
Qualifications
* Degree in Physiotherapy.
* Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council.
* Significant experience at Band 6 or 7.
* Experience in specialist field to master's level or equivalent (desirable).
