About The Post
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Barnsley Council’s Strategic Purchasing, Procurement and Contract Management team to support delivery of the Council Plan and strengthen contract management capability across the organisation.
Key Purpose
To support the management and delivery of high‑value strategic contracts and help embed a consistent, commercial, council‑wide approach to contract and supplier performance management.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure value for money and compliance with contract requirements.
* Maintain and manage contract data, documentation, and payment processes.
* Identify and support resolution of contract performance issues and breaches.
* Support implementation of systems and improvements to contract management processes.
* Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure effective contract delivery.
Qualifications & Attributes
* Experience supporting contract management or similar commercial activity.
* Ability to work with data, systems, and documentation.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Proactive, organised, and able to manage a varied workload.

This is a development‑focused role within a growing contract management function, offering the opportunity to work on strategic contracts and contribute to service improvement across the Council.
