Position : Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location : Rotherham, Sheffield, Doncaster, Chesterfield, Barnsley
Hybrid : No - this role is office based
Sector : Heavy engineering, capital plant and equipment
Salary : According to experience but likely to be in the £50,000 - £70,000 bracket
Visa Support : No, you must already have the right to live and work in the UK
English language : Customers are based all over the world and whilst they all speak English, it is as a foreign language. You will need to have first class spoken and written English language skills and to be able to explain things clearly.
This role is a full-on engineering design role and will comprise
* Heavy engineering equipment design
* Structural steel design and analysis - loads, deflection, buckling etc
* Materials handling design
* Design for fabrication, assembly and installation - weldments, bolted structures etc
* Access, safety and ergonomics design - Working at Height, Machinery directives
* Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards - guarding, stops, emissions etc
* Load and failure analysis - static, dynamic, FEA etc
* Problem solving and root cause analysis - FMEA, 5 Whys etc
* Materials knowledge, ideally with some exposure to castings / forgings
About You :
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar is very much preferred
* Chartered Engineer status beneficial
* Experience of large CAPEX plant projects
* CAD literate
* FEA
* CFD
* Mathcad
* Able to travel internationally when required
* Clear written and spoken English language skills
