About the role:
We’re looking for an experienced Bid Manager to join our team. This is a key role supporting our continued growth across both public and private sectors. You’ll play a central part in managing and coordinating high-quality bids and proposals, working closely with stakeholders across the business. The role contributes directly to our strategic growth targets and helps strengthen our win rate through clear, consistent and compelling submissions.
Here’s what the role looks like:
1. Manage and co-ordinate the planning and execution of all major bids and proposals (solicited and unsolicited) in line with the Sword Tender Process and timelines, including allocation of authors and coordination of content development and reviews
2. Produce all non-technical response content
3. Contribute to the bid response library and feed updated content into the central Bid Management platform and process
4. Provide commercial input and review for each submission
5. Coordinate internal reviews and approvals to ensure timely submission of compliant, high-quality responses
6. Support bid qualification and early-stage planning, including identifying win themes and resourcing needs
7. Drive consistency, clarity and quality across bid submissions in line with Sword’s standards and messaging
8. Ensure all submissions are compliant with customer instructions, evaluation criteria and governance requirements
9. Assist in the preparation for and participation in client presentations
10. Analyse bid and proposal performance to support continuous improvement
11. Provide updates and relevant information to the Sword Opportunity Review Board (ORB)
12. Oversee the sales-to-operations handover for successful tenders and proposals
13. Maximise Sword’s scope and participation across relevant frameworks
14. Manage relationships with framework partners
15. Monitor tender portals for new opportunities and flag to ORB
16. Assist in marketing Sword’s capability across frameworks
17. Build and maintain long-term, sustainable relationships with senior-level customers and partners
Requirements
18. A demonstrable track record in Bid Management within the technology or related sectors, including experience writing tenders and reviewing frameworks across a range of industries
19. Commercially aware, articulate, and able to think strategically
20. Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and driven to deliver results
21. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
22. Meticulous attention to detail, with strong time and expectation management capabilities when coordinating multiple complex activities
23. Comfortable working across diverse teams and engaging with technical, commercial, and executive stakeholders
