Designability is a national charity thatenables disabled people to live with greater independence. Ourexpertise in personcentred design helps us create products andservices with and for disabled people to improve and enrich theirlives. Borne out of a partnership between the Royal United Hospitaland the University of Bath in the 1960s the charity is best knownfor their pioneering Wizzybug Loan Scheme which provides free funpowered wheelchairs called Wizzybugs to very young disabledchildren across the UK.
The successful applicantwill be responsible for supporting the production andcontinuous improvement of existing products workingclosely with the Engineering Operations Manager to ensure theengineering operations run efficiently within budget anddelivers products manufactured on time to the higheststandards of quality and regulatorycompliance.
This postion will befor a fixed term of 18 months. The position will be primary basedat our Bath premises with some homeworking.

* Leadthe Engineering Support team to deliver the supply of Designabilityproducts.
* Manage the Medical Device Files(technical files) for medical devices.
* Workingclosely with the Engineering Operations Manager to lead andundertake the QMS procedures relating to engineering operationskeeping accurate records and continuously improving ourprocesses.
* Create accurate production schedulesto satisfy demand including reporting and KPItracking.
* Work closely with the Production TeamLead to manage internal resources build schedules and timely supplyof components to meet demand. Collaborate to implement new Qualitycontrol procedures in production.
* To beresponsible for the financial management of the engineeringoperations including the product Bills of Materials and theintroduction of a formal stock managementsystem.
* Work closely with the EngineeringOperations Manager to accurately forecast expenditure in relationto engineering operations.
* Manage and onboardsuppliers monitoring their performance in line with the QMSincluding creation of an approved supplierslist.
* Manage the change control processincluding the revision of engineering drawings spare parts listsand assembly instructions.
* Support theprogramme office in the logistics supply chain courier &shipping operations including the return of Wizzybugs at the end ofthe loan scheme.
* Conduct Risk Assessmentprocess for COSH materials heavy duty tools and ensure allproduction team are in date with any training requirements for theequipment used.
* To be committed to the work ofDesignability and work in accordance with the organisationspolicies and procedures.
