JOB OVERVIEW
The Head of STEM will provide leadership and vision to deliver excellent student outcomes, quality assurance, and curriculum innovation in line with OES requirements and the Quality Code. You will lead and support your academic team, working closely with senior colleagues and being accountable for progression rates to the University. The role also involves overseeing UFP, IY2, and PMP matters within the programme area. The ideal candidate will have recent successful academic leadership experience in a relevant discipline and proven ability to engage with a HEI in collaborative development.
ABOUT THE ROLE
* Communicate our vision for continuous improvement and achieving student outcome targets.
* Develop the academic partnership with the host university, ensuring effective STEM teaching and recruitment opportunities.
* Create programme pathways aligned with the centre's strategic aims as a high-quality UK HE pathway.
* Participate in planning and development across HR, academic development, learning, teaching, assessment, and quality assurance.
* Work with university colleagues through liaison points and report regularly.
* Identify and address strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to enhance delivery.
* Deliver professional development for the STEM team and wider staff where appropriate.
* Lead performance management processes, including observations, peer reviews, and annual appraisals.
* Manage staff resources effectively across the STEM team, collaborating with the Deputy Director.
* Plan and oversee recruitment of STEM staff, ensuring compliance.
* Ensure team meets all responsibilities and provides performance feedback.
* Participate in meetings and represent the Centre externally.
* Maintain academic standards, quality of learning, and accurate published information.
* Oversee module operation, programme review, and new development in collaboration with colleagues.
* Ensure quality feedback to students and sponsors through RPAG reporting.
* Ensure compliance with quality frameworks and policies.
* Contribute to the Centre Action Plan and Quality Assurance framework.
* Analyze data and feedback, monitor progression, and implement remedial actions.
* Prepare reports and evaluations for scrutiny processes.
* Coordinate with other departments to ensure effective timetable and assessment delivery.
* Manage annual leave processes and staffing cover.
* Contribute to curriculum delivery, development, and assessment.
* Oversee VLE development related to STEM.
* Support cost-effective practices while maintaining quality.
* Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met.
* Build relationships with internal and external partners, including offices, agents, and sponsors.
* Coordinate with university departments for immersion activities and module alignment.
