Ayton and Snainton Medical Practice has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, hardworking individual to join our busy Reception Team.
The role is for 18 hours per week working the following shift pattern:

We have a multi-skilled supportive and friendly team and we have a vacancy for a Medical Receptionist. Being the first point of contact for our patients makes your an ambassador for our service so your excellent communication skills are key to this role.
This is a permanent role and flexibility is essential to provide adequate cover for holiday and sickness for your colleagues.
JOB TITLE: Part-Time Medical Receptionist

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days per year (pro-rata) plus Bank Holidays
Work alongside existing reception and dispensary staff to provide a sensitive, efficient and confidential service to patients
Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the practice reception team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments. Deal with requests for visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
Registering new patients on the SystmOne computer system and any temporary residents as necessary
Preparing notes and computer printouts for surgeries and home visits
Collect private fee payments
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
Providing clerical assistance as required, including filing, photocopying and scanning
Keeping the reception and waiting area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
Check doctors rooms at the end of each surgery for samples/paperwork
Providing relief cover for other receptionists due to holidays/periods of absence due to sickness
Any other tasks which may be considered appropriate to the post of Receptionist.

In the performance of the duties outlined in this Job Description, the post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers. Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks

Actively reporting of health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised
Responsible for correct hand hygiene
Keeping own work areas and general / patient areas generally clean, assisting in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness consistent with the scope of the job holder's role
Undertaking periodic infection control training

~ Comply with practice policies and procedures as defined within the staff handbook and the practice policy library
Responsibilities for Financial and Physical Resourses:
Undertake to manage the private fees process for patients, being aware of the procedure to follow
Assist with training new staff as required
Provide annual leave / sickness cover as necessary
Attend all mandatory training sessions and undertake any additional training required to fulfill the requirement of the role
Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults:
To ensure awareness and be alert to, the signs and symptoms of abuse in children through regular participation in mandatory and refresher child protection training.
To be familiar with all relevant Safeguarding Children and Young People, policies and procedures and contact points, taking the appropriate action when there is knowledge or suspicion of a child who has been subject to abuse.
To be familiar with all relevant Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, policies and procedures and contact points, taking the appropriate action when there is knowledge or suspicion of a vulnerable adult who has been subject to abuse.
