As a Senior Business Architect at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), you will be instrumental in shaping the future of the organisation as we evolve into a more customer-focused, modern, and outcomes-driven organisation that can deliver at pace.
This role sits at the heart of our transformation journey, ensuring that our operating model, systems, and services are designed to deliver maximum value to the people we serve. This role will play a key part in aligning strategic goals, digital delivery, and operational execution - supporting a joined-up, coherent approach to improving financial wellbeing across the UK.
You will work across teams, directorates, and services to map and analyse business capabilities, processes, and systems - identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and innovation, and drive continuous improvement. Your work will enable smarter, simpler ways of working, and ensure that MaPS is set up to deliver integrated services that meet user needs now and in the future.
Through a holistic and strategic lens, you will lead on defining and embedding an enterprise-wide view of our future operating model and transformation roadmap. You will bring together business and technology perspectives to design solutions that are scalable, sustainable, and aligned with our long-term vision. You will translate our strategic intent into clear architectural plans, supporting effective decision-making, reducing complexity, and helping shape a more agile and responsive MaPS.
Job Description
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Business Architecture & Operating Model Development
* Design and maintain a business architecture framework that aligns with MaPS’ strategic objectives and digital transformation ambitions.
* Define, map, and optimise business capabilities, processes, and value streams to support the delivery of integrated, customer-focused services.
* Lead the development and evolution of target operating models that promote efficiency, agility, and improved outcomes for customers.
Strategic Alignment & Transformation
* Collaborate closely with teams across strategy, technology, customer delivery, data, insight, and service design to ensure alignment between business strategy and operational delivery.
* Support the integration of the Pensions Dashboards Service (PDS) by establishing a clear, end-to-end view of how it fits within MaPS’ wider service ecosystem.
* Identify and shape transformation opportunities that enhance organisational performance and enable more effective, user-centred services.
Governance & Assurance
* Develop and embed business design principles and frameworks to guide decision-making and delivery across the organisation.
* Ensure all transformation initiatives are underpinned by a robust understanding of business impacts, interdependencies, and risks.
* Provide business architecture assurance to maintain coherence and consistency across programmes, projects, and change activity.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
* Act as a strategic connector between business, digital, and enabling teams across the organisation to ensure a cohesive approach to service and capability design.
* Translate complex architectural and transformation concepts into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
* Champion a culture of continuous improvement by using business architecture insights to inform decisions and drive change across MaPS.
