An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Surgical Specialties Division at University College London Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, for a talented Assistant General Manager to manage our benign urology service. We are looking for a dynamic leader, who is passionate about quality, patient‑centred care, and our people. You will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to support the operational running of the department while also driving improvement across the clinical services.
Main duties of the job
The Assistant General Manager in Uro‑Oncology will provide key operational leadership across six different sub‑specialities (Female, Functional and Adolescent Urology, Reconstructive Urology, Stones and Endoluminal Urology, Andrology and General Urology). The role is pivotal to the successful delivery of excellent urology care for patients and manages the benign urology administrative team. The admin team supports a busy outpatient service, as well as the management of inpatient pathways and admissions at WMS and UCH. The successful candidate will be expected to drive forward performance improvement in Urology, implementing new transformation initiatives while maintaining a strong focus on key performance metrics. They will identify opportunities for improvement and growth, and contribute towards business planning and strategy for the service.

Knowledge and Qualifications
* Degree and/or an appropriate professional qualification or equivalent knowledge acquired by experience
* Masters level qualification or equivalent specialist knowledge acquired by experience (desirable)
Experience
Essential criteria
* Previous managerial experience in a large and complex organisation preferably within the NHS
* Proven experience analysing and interpreting performance data
* Proven experience in service improvement and development
* Proven experience in effective management of budget and leadership of staff
* Proven experience in business planning and the development and effective implementation of complex strategic & operational plans
* Proven record of success managing change while maintaining high standards of quality
* Experience working unsupervised without close management
