About The Role
Sodexo is seeking a resilient, dedicated Education Tutor to join our team at HMP Forest Bank. You will play a key role in delivering engaging, accredited and non-accredited educational programs in Maths, English, and PSHE, aimed at supporting prisoners’ rehabilitation, increasing employability, and reducing reoffending rates.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver lessons in Maths, English (up to Level 2), and PSHE to a diverse and sometimes challenging learner group.
* Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate stimulating courses and activities tailored to individual learner needs.
* Conduct initial assessments and diagnostic testing to appropriately place learners.
* Challenge and motivate hard-to-reach learners, promoting positive behavior and increased self-esteem through role modelling.
* Support learners with SEND and Learning Difficulties/Disabilities (LDD), designing and implementing effective support plans.
* Monitor attendance, achievement, and progression, ensuring high-quality learning outcomes aligned with OFSTED and internal Quality Assurance standards.
* Collaborate with education and regime teams to deliver a broad range of relevant educational opportunities.
* Adhere to all Prison Service and HMP Forest Bank rules, procedures, and security protocols.
About You
* A qualified teacher with a PGCE or equivalent.
* Experienced in teaching Maths and English, with competency to deliver Functional Skills.
* Knowledgeable about SEND and Learning Difficulties/Disabilities (LDD).
* Skilled in communicating effectively across various mediums with learners and colleagues.
* Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and flexible, with a strong commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
* Passionate about the rehabilitation and resettlement of offenders.
* Able to manage challenging behavior with patience and resilience.
* Awareness and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Desirable
* Experience working in a prison environment or with challenging learner behavior.
* Experience instructing or supporting vulnerable or hard-to-reach individuals.
