The Role & Key Responsibilities
From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
In this role you will be a single point of contact responsible for providing strategic financial information and guidance to senior management teams across both forces. You will be working with both police officers and staff, contributing to both Forces\' overall plan of making Surrey and Sussex safe. This will mean you may be required to travel to locations in both counties as part of the role.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with a positive attitude, capable and resilient, determined with a natural ability to solve problems, working under pressure to deliver consistently high quality finance services within a changing context.
Operating in a diverse and continually changing environment provides both opportunities and challenges for Surrey and Sussex Police. Providing high quality finance services and supporting Force priorities, you will be busy and challenged on a daily basis.
Working alongside other members of the finance team you will produce high quality financial reporting services, which will include taking a key role in supporting strategic financial decisions. You will create, manage and maintain Finance programmes that deliver continuous improvement. This will involve advice and support on financial management, forecasts, risk assessments, opportunities for efficiencies, and business cases. Other responsibilities include support and management of other members of the finance team.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you must have a solid financial background as a qualified CCAB accountant or an actively studying finalist, with relevant experience of working within a large and complex financial environment; with specific knowledge and experience of fulfilling a budget management role and clear experience of self-motivation and workload prioritisation. You will also have the ability to analyse complex financial issues and a record of developing and implementing strategies to address financial issues.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential for this role, alongside good organising and influencing skills, with strong attention to detail and ability to plan workloads and support others to ensure that all tasks are completed to the required timetable.
