Lead Design Engineer
Location: North West London (remote working possible)
Salary: up to £85,000

Turner Lovell are recruiting on behalf of a leading utility and engineering services provider that delivers projects supporting the UK’s energy transition. As part of their continued growth in the power sector, our client is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to join their expanding HV design team.
This role provides the opportunity to work on a range of distribution projects for major UK clients (11kV to 132kV). You will take responsibility for developing and reviewing multi-discipline design packages that are critical to the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the UK’s electricity network.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and review substation design packages, including drawings, calculations and specifications.
* Ensure compliance with client technical specifications and industry standards.
* Produce design packs, drawings, and supporting documentation for both tender and construction stages.
* Provide engineering support during installation, FAT, SAT, and commissioning stages.
* Collaborate with electrical and civil engineers to deliver integrated design solutions.
* Support and mentor junior engineers and contribute to the improvement of design processes and standards.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
* Proven experience delivering substation designs within the UK TSO/DNO environments.
* Broad understanding of substation systems and interfaces (equipment, layouts, cable systems etc..)
* Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
