Based in Edinburgh and operating in a full-time, office-based role, this position will suit a part-qualified accountant from an audit or accounts preparation background who enjoys responsibility, technical development and working closely with clients and senior stakeholders. You must be able to commute to Edinburgh on a daily basis. The Opportunity As Assistant Accountant, you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting across a mix of corporate and fund structures. Working alongside trainees and qualified accountants, you’ll take ownership of core accounting processes while building deeper technical capability. While experience in financial services is preferred, candidates from other sectors are very welcome to apply. Key Responsibilities Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts Performing balance sheet reconciliations, including bank reconciliations Supporting accounts payable and receivable processes Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts Preparing VAT returns and supporting compliance requirements Supporting drawdown and distribution notices Liaising with auditors and tax advisers, responding to queries and providing documentation Building strong working relationships with clients and internal teams What You’ll Bring Part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with no more than four exams remaining Background in audit, accounts preparation, management accounting or reconciliations Experience gained in any industry; financial services exposure is advantageous but not essential Strong understanding of management accounts and balance sheet controls High attention to detail with a proactive, organised approach Confidence communicating with colleagues, clients and external advisers Experience using Xero and Microsoft 365 would be advantageous Package & Benefits Discretionary bonus Generous pension contribution 28 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays Private healthcare and life assurance Supportive environment with a clear commitment to professional development Why This Role?
