Overview
The Trust seeks a full-time Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at Rathbone Low Secure Unit, Liverpool. The service has 32 male beds across two wards, providing assessment and management for patients from Liverpool, South Sefton, Southport, and Kirkby, covering approximately 1/3 million population. It offers low secure forensic care for detained patients with significant risk of harm who cannot be managed in non-secure settings. The role is permanent, due to retirement, and involves working within a multidisciplinary team, managing a caseload of 16 male inpatients, and collaborating with other agencies.
Responsibilities
1. Lead on patient management, including preadmission planning, MDT meetings, CPA reviews, and discharge planning.
2. Exercise statutory responsibilities for detained patients under the Mental Health Act, including reporting to the Ministry of Justice and tribunal attendance.
3. Assess referral cases from various sources, participate in weekly referral and review meetings, and oversee admission processes.
4. Participate in service management, attend clinical and service meetings, and supervise junior staff.
Additional Details
The post attracts a 10% R&R payment, reviewed in 2025. The post holder must be approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 and be an Approved Clinician. Flexibility and participation in organizational transformation are encouraged.
