CTF Operator – CNC Machinist

Full time

Bristol

What you will be doing

We have an exciting opportunity for a CNC Machinist to join our operations team within the Composite Technology Facility in Bristol, where we deliver the composite fan system (blades and containment case) capability for the Ultrafan program upon which future civil gas turbine products will depend.

As a Machinist you will be operating CNC 5 axis router/waterjet machines working to technical instructions to deliver in the production of composite components.

Responsibilities

* Operate CNC & Waterjet machines
* Work to technical instructions to deliver consistent, high-quality machining and inspection across a variety of different components
* Operate measuring equipment, including, micrometres, plug gauges, and surface finish equipment
* Completing inspection where require
* Assist with investigations into operating and process issues.
* Provide process information to other colleagues to minimise disruption and reduce non-conformance. This should ensure right first-time approach and continuation of production
* Support senior team members with data collection and continuous improvement projects
* Ensure awareness and compliance with all general health and safety and quality assurance
* Willingness to pick up and learn new techniques within the Composite Technology Facility

* A recognised time-served apprenticeship/modern apprenticeship within a Mechanical Engineering discipline, along with NVQ Level 3 qualification.
* Experience of working to detailed drawings and ability to follow technical instructions
* Skilled across manufacturing processes
* Ability to work shifts to suit business demand which may include rotating shifts
