About The Team/Department You Will Be Joining
* The Joint Digital Services Division (DSD) delivers a joint digital strategy across Gwent Police and South Wales Police to enable both forces to develop and implement new ways of working and deliver policing to our communities.
* The role will sit within the Business Systems branch of DSD who are responsible for support and development of forces primary ERP applications.
* Our office is based at South Wales Police Headquarters in Bridgend, but we offer a hybrid working policy which supports working from your home.
About The Role And Your Key Responsibilities
* As a third line member of the team, you will investigate and resolve the most complex issues from multiple business areas such as HR, Payroll, Finance and Procurement, Rostering and Learning & Development. Typically, you will be expected to have a good understanding of working practices from most of these business areas.
* Queries will include resolving issues with complex SQL routines or providing technical assistance to the immediate team and business areas.
* You will be responsible for major developments within the applications. These may include re-builds of existing functionality following a change of business process or developing new functionality in response to an organisational change.
* You will lead this change from start to finish, liaising closely with the business areas and suppliers throughout to ensure the development remains on track.
* You will manage a small team of technical support and development officers (1-2), setting day to day tasking, undertaking performance reviews and providing advice and guidance where appropriate. You may also be required to manage their staff on occasions as required (covering absences etc).
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
* Working knowledge of SQL (Microsoft T-SQL).
* Experience of testing systems and diagnosing and rectifying faults within such systems.
* Experience of gathering requirements and documenting specifications for development work.
* Ability to manipulate data sets using Excel (using lookups, concatenation, if statements etc).
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to communicate complex information to diverse audiences effectively.
* Knowledge of the ERP applications (UNIT4 ERP and Total Mobile GRS).
* Working knowledge of REST APIs is desirable.

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
