Location: Fox Wood School and College, Woolston Learning Village, Woolston and Peace Drive, Great Sankey (from September 2026.)
Contract: Term-time only
Fox Wood School and College is a vibrant and inclusive learning community dedicated to supporting children and young people with complex needs. We are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and highly motivated Pastoral Support Officer to join our dedicated team.
About the Role
As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will play a key role in promoting the emotional wellbeing, safety, and personal development of our pupils and students throughout Key Stage 4 and 5. You will work closely with students, families, staff, and a range of external professionals to provide targeted support, helping to remove barriers to learning and ensuring every child feels safe, valued, and understood. You will – from September 2026 – work across two sites.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and group support for pupils experiencing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges.
Act as a key contact for families, offering guidance and signposting to external services where appropriate.
Work collaboratively with external agencies such as social care, health professionals, and educational psychologists to ensure joined-up support for pupils.
Attend, and positively contribute, to a range of meetings with parents and external professionals, advocating for our students.
Support the safeguarding team in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
Collaborate with teaching and support staff to develop strategies that promote positive behaviour and engagement.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to multi-agency meetings when required.
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with children and young people, ideally in an educational or care setting.
A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
