This is a dual‑focused role combining hands‑on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities across people, projects, and product development.

You will work directly with customers both remotely and on‑site—solving complex integration challenges such as commissioning gearbox electronics, developing calibrations, and ensuring optimal system performance. Alongside this, you will play a key role in managing projects, supporting product design, and contributing to the commercial and operational flow of engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities

Calibration & Technical Support

* Provide expert remote and on‑site calibration support to customers both in the UK and around the World.
* Commission and troubleshoot systems, including tasks such as enabling gearbox electronics functionality on customer vehicles.
* Develop and deliver bespoke calibrations tailored to customer requirements.
* Support customers via phone, email, and live troubleshooting sessions.
* Define system architectures and prepare wiring specifications for new vehicle builds.
* Diagnose and resolve complex vehicle system issues under time‑critical conditions.

Project & Product Management

* Lead and support engineering projects from concept through to delivery.
* Manage project timelines, deliverables, and customer expectations.
* Coordinate internal resources and delegate tasks such as quotation generation.
* Contribute to product lifecycle activities, including specification, design, and validation.
* Support the flow of purchasing and integration of components into product builds.
* Work closely with engineering and commercial teams to align product development with market needs.

Leadership & Team Contribution

* Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
* Support workload planning and task delegation across the team.
* Act as a key technical interface between customers and internal departments.
* Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and tools.
* Customer Engagement & Industry Presence
* Represent Life Racing at trade shows, customer events, and technical demonstrations.
* Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
* Provide pre‑ and post‑sales technical support.

Day‑to‑Day Activities

* Responding to customer support calls and technical queries
* Creating and refining calibration files for customer applications
* Delegating and reviewing customer quotations
* Preparing wiring layouts and system definitions for new vehicle programs
* Coordinating ongoing project tasks and tracking progress
* Collaborating with internal teams on product and design updates

Required Qualifications & Experience

* Bachelor or master degree in mechanical engineering
* Minimum 7+ years’ experience in motorsport, automotive, or aviation engineering
* Strong background in calibration, control systems, and vehicle electronics
* Proven experience in customer‑facing technical roles
* Solid understanding of data analysis, ECU systems, and vehicle integration
* Experience managing technical projects and delivering to deadlines.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Background

Candidates are likely to have experience with or have worked at companies such as:

* Bosch, Marelli, Cosworth, Motec, McLaren, F1 Teams, WEC or WRC Teams, etc

Personal Attributes

* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
* Attention to detail and commitment to software quality.
* Self‑motivated with strong ownership mindset
* Passion for motorsport and high‑performance engineering

Hours of work & Benefits

40‑hour, full‑time week, working 8 hours a day Monday – Friday, flexible across the hours of 7.30am to 6.00pm with a 30‑45 minute minimum lunch break. To meet the needs of the role and fast‑paced nature of the business, the successful candidate will require a flexible approach to working hours.
