Job Summary
Saltire Patisserie Ltd, part of Saltire Hospitality, is a premier supplier of high-quality baking and patisserie to the food industry across Edinburgh and surrounding areas. With a reputation for excellence, innovation, and consistency, we specialise in both volume and bespoke pastry production, supplying to events, venues, cafés, and catering clients throughout the region.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pastry Chef to take full operational responsibility for our pastry department. role requires someone with a professional attitude, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage high standards of production in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* produce a wide variety of high-quality patisserie, desserts, and baked goods.
* create and develop new offerings, including seasonal and client-specific products.
* Maintain full compliance with current food hygiene and health & safety legislation.
* support the pastry team to ensure continuous development and productivity.
* Maintain quality assurance processes and ensure presentation standards are met across all products.
Requirements & Experience:
* Minimum 3 years of experience in professional pastry cooking, including large-scale or volume production.
* Proven track record as a Pastry Chef
* Strong knowledge of traditional and modern pastry techniques.
* Demonstrated ability to plan and execute high-volume and high-quality output.
* Professional disposition with a team-oriented, solution-focused attitude.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
* Formal training in Pastry or Culinary Arts (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
* Food Hygiene and Health & Safety certifications (Level 3 preferred).
* Experience with allergen control and dietary adaptations (e.g., vegan, gluten-free).
* Confident in using kitchen production or inventory software (desirable but not essential).
