Role Overview
The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, producing reliable monthly reports, forecasting future cash flow, and overseeing multi-jurisdictional banking activities. This is a part-time role starting at 10 hours per week, with the potential to increase to 20 hours per week as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
Invoice Management:
* Oversee the processing, issuing, and reconciliation of invoices.
* Ensure timely collection and accurate recording of payments.
Financial Reporting:
* Prepare and deliver monthly Profit & Loss statements.
* Provide management with clear financial insights and variance analysis.
Cash Flow Forecasting:
* Build and maintain rolling 3–6 month cash flow forecasts.
* Advise management on liquidity and financial planning.
Banking & Treasury:
* Manage business bank accounts in the UK and Cape Verde.
* Ensure compliance with local banking regulations and smooth cross-border transfers.
Compliance & Controls:
* Maintain financial records in line with relevant accounting standards.
* Support the external accountants with year-end reporting, audits, and tax requirements.
Strategic Support:
* Provide financial input to business planning and growth strategies.
* Recommend improvements in financial processes and systems.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role.
* Strong knowledge of financial reporting, P&L preparation, and cash flow forecasting.
* Experience managing multi-jurisdictional accounts (UK and/or international).
* Educated to degree level in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification desirable).
* Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
* Proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel.
* Ability to work independently and manage part-time hours effectively.
