Workshop Operative
Location: Billingshurst
Salary: £12.50 -£15ph
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (42.5 hours per week)
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Job Purpose
To ensure the smooth and efficient running of the workshop by supporting production across various work areas, maintaining quality standards, and adhering to all Health & Safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Process work in a timely manner, always complying with Health & Safety guidelines and wearing required PPE.
* Carry out maintenance and cleaning of machinery in accordance with company risk assessments and safety standards.
* Work across assigned areas as directed by the Team Leader, understanding and completing tasks accurately.
* Inspect all products during production to maintain high-quality standards.
* Once trained, operate any workshop machinery safely and effectively, following all operational procedures.
* Report any faults, production list issues, or general problems to the Supervisor promptly.
* Work effectively within the team and follow established processes and Communication practices.
Required Skills and Attributes
* Strong product knowledge and understanding of production lists.
* Clear communication skills, both with team members and the office.
* Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently using your own initiative.
* A responsible and professional attitude towards the role, workplace, and colleagues.
* Capable of planning and prioritising tasks based on production schedules and supervisory instructions.
* Remains calm under pressure and confident in making day-to-day decisions.
* Accurate record-keeping and system use.
* Good time management, cleanliness, and organisation of own workload and workspace.
* Practical, hands-on skills and physical fitness to move products safely around the workshop.
