Engineering Shift Lead (Nights) Hamilton - Site-based 4 on / 4 off (Night Shift. 7pm -7am) Up to £58,000 The Opportunity MRD Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Engineering Shift Lead for their site in Hamilton. This is a key leadership role on the night shift, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all production and site equipment while leading a team of engineers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Role As Engineering Shift Lead, you will take ownership of all engineering activity during your shift, combining hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership. Key responsibilities include: Leading and supervising a team of engineers on shift Prioritising and delegating maintenance and breakdown activities Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults Minimising downtime and supporting production targets Driving planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules Leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards (GMP / HACCP) Monitoring shift performance, downtime, and maintenance activity via CMMS Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site Managing effective shift handovers and communication About You We're looking for a hands-on engineering leader with experience in a manufacturing environment. Essential: Proven experience in maintenance engineering (ideally FMCG / food manufacturing) Previous leadership or supervisory experience Strong multi-skilled engineering knowledge (mechanical & electrical) Experience working with production, packaging, and utility equipment Ability to troubleshoot under pressure in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and organisational skills Desirable: Experience with CMMS systems PLC fault finding / automation exposure IOSH or relevant health & safety certification Food safety / GMP knowledge Why Apply?
