We are Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT), one of the largest acute trusts in the country. We are seeking a Band 7 Neuro Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the team on Sahara Ward. Sahara B is a 30-bed regional neurosurgical ward for Essex, providing care to patients with brain and spinal conditions. You will work as part of our large multidisciplinary team. We are looking for an individual to support our nursing team in delivering high quality nursing care; if you are reliable, organised and a good team player, we want to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
The CNS will act as a specialist resource and keyworker, providing expert nursing knowledge, information, advice and support to patients and their families throughout their diagnosis, treatment and follow up of brain and central nervous system tumours.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will have an integral role in ensuring the continuity and further development of a quality driven service to all patients admitted for assessment, observation, surgical and oncological management of brain and spine tumours.
They will provide continuity of care via nurse led clinics and specialist follow up, and in time become an invaluable educational resource in their specialist field.

Person specification
Education
* Registered Nurse, 1st level with current NMC registration.
* BSc or working towards a specialist qualification in Neuroscience/Oncological nursing e.g. ENB 148 or equivalent.
* Teaching qualification e.g. ENB 998 MELPS or equivalent.
Skills / Experience
* Significant experience in neurosurgical and/or cancer nursing.
* Ability to work unsupervised and manage own caseload.
* IT skills, including the use of spreadsheets, databases and word processing.
