Job Description:
The Role
Working alongside Private Wealth and Tax partners and Mishcon de Reya Trust Corporation directors to offer internal accountancy and taxation services. You will work closely with lawyers specializing in trusts and estates administration. Our clients include ultra-high net worth individuals, non-domiciled UK residents, landed estates, entrepreneurs, and beneficiaries. While primarily UK-focused, the work often involves international aspects such as non-UK residents or foreign assets.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Supporting applications for the Trusts Regulation Service from preparation to registration.
* Gathering information, performing calculations, and handling filings for tax returns, income tax, Capital Gains Tax, and Inheritance Tax.
* Preparing estate and trust accounts.
* Collating information for TRS/tax returns and HMRC compliance.
* Liaising with HMRC on behalf of trustees and beneficiaries.
* Building relationships with trustees and beneficiaries.
* Managing day-to-day financial matters of trusts, liaising with intermediaries and beneficiaries.
* Managing files, ensuring compliance, billing, and financial management in line with firm policies.
Skills/Experience
* Accountancy qualification with 3-5 years post-qualification experience in private practice.
* Experience in a private client environment preferred.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, delivering high-quality work.
* Strong time management skills to handle multiple stakeholders and meet deadlines.
* Clear and concise communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.
* Exceptional IT skills, especially MS Excel, and familiarity with HMRC platforms.
* High attention to detail and accuracy.
* Experience with file management and quality control procedures.
* Experience with international clients and assets preferred.
* Previous trust management experience is a plus but not essential.
