How You'll Help Us Connect the World:
As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for activities related to the design of new products and improvements to existing ones as part of the Engineering Quality department. You will work closely production, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure a quality product is delivered. This role will be based in Malton, UK.
You Will Make an Impact By:
* Working on continuous improvement processes in a lab or production line setting.
* Removing sources of variation and allowing reliable planning/delivery based on expectations.
* Helping reduce waste and maximize efficiency
* Serving as the main reference for Quality for two sites, Malton (Product Engineering and Production) and Warrington (Engineering Services).
* Reviewing and analyzing reports on quality non-conformities related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
* Investigating problems and developing disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.
* Interfacing with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to determine responsibilities. Recommend corrective actions, dispositions and modifications.
* Participating in definition of engineering changes and temporary deviations (needed tasks and roles), ensuring the integrity of Customer specifications and expectations and the product reliability
* Preparing periodic reports, analyzing data and extracting negative trends that require attention or preventative action. Coordinate related actions.
* Assisting with problems related to materials and interfacing with SQE. Specifies and/or assesses inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment e.g. through Gage R&R statistical studies
* Having effective customer and supplier interactions and/or frequent inter-organization contacts.
* Focusing on ensuring process capability, control and improvement by developing procedures and interpreting standards for defined product line or facility. Develop the application of tools, methods and systems to ensure continuous performance improvements, e.g. DMAIC approach to problem solving. Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions
* Developing, modifying, applying and maintaining quality standards and protocol for processing materials into product. Devise methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and product equipment, participating to team activities on tools like FMEA, Dynamic Control Plan
* Preparing or evaluating reports of statistical analysis (e.g. Cpk process capability) to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
* Leading six sigma improvement projects and maintain related documentation. Devises new approaches to problems. Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of various factors. Act as a key contributor and/or technical leader within a project team.
* Leading internal audits and manages external certification audits for ISO9001 standard as well as possible Customer audits.
Required Qualifications for Consideration:
* Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 5 or more years of relative working experience
* Sound mathematical and technical skills.
* Ability to think logically and methodically.
* Ability to analyze information and provide fact-based recommendations.
* Good investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Good interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
* Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives with measurable results.
